The government of the Åland Islands has requested .ax as its Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD). Currently, however, there is no such TLD and Åland still uses the Finnish ccTLD .fi. Most Ålandian websites are under the .aland.fi subdomain. IANA has .ax reserved for Åland, with no sponsoring organizations assigned. On the 30th September 2005, it was annouced that .ax is going to be introduced in March 2006 [1].
