.ru is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Russia.
Its control is assigned to Russian Institute for Public Networks, according to IANA's WHOIS, but as of 2005 actual registry operations are being performed by RU-CENTER.
This registry also handles registrations for .su, the domain of the former Soviet Union, which was supposedly going to be phased out given the nonexistence of the country it represents, but nevertheless has been accepting new registrations along with .ru.
