- January 8 - Sinéad Flanagan marries Éamon de Valera in Dublin
- January 13 - 'Deirdre of the Sorrows' by John Millington Synge is performed for the first time at the Abbey Theatre.
- February 21 - Irish Unionist MPs at Westminster elect Sir Edward Carson as party leader, replacing Walter Long.
- February 23 - St Patrick's College, Maynooth becomes a recognised college of the National University of Ireland.
- May 7 - Anne Horniman withdraws her financial support from the Abbey Theatre. It is a protest due to the fact that the Theatre refused to close on the death of King Edward VII who died the previous day.
- August 29 - The Aero Club of Ireland hold its inaugural aviation meeting at Leopardstown Racecourse.
- December 3 - Edward Carson and James Cambell are re-elected unopposed as Unionist representatives for Trinity College Dublin.
