- Legendary performer George Jones was in the midst of a comeback during 1999. He had just released a critically acclaimed album, Cold Hard Truth, and was about to release the semi-biographical single, "Choices." Then, disaster struck. On March 6, the 67-year-old legendary singer was seriously injured when he crashed his Lexus into a bridge while driving home. It was later revealed that alcohol was a factor in the accident, and he pleaded guilty to drunk driving charges.
- Comedian Jeff Foxworthy debuts his syndicated radio countdown show, "The Foxworthy Countdown," in June.
