- An estimated $100 million worth of art was destroyed in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack. Public artwork accounted for around $10 million of this figure, which included works by Alexander Calder, Joan MirĂ³, and Roy Lichtenstein.
- A new wing in the Genia Schreiber University Art Gallery of the University of Tel Aviv, Israel, is dedicated to the memory of Michel Kikoine.
