A two out of three falls match is a type of professional wrestling match. In order to win, a contestant must score two "falls" before his opponent does. Sometimes each fall is fought under different stipulations (called Three Stages of Hell). These stipulations include one "pinfall", one "submissions only fall," and one "no disqualification fall." This type of match is almost always booked to go to the third fall. This is also the predominant match-up in lucha libre (dos de tres caidas). Before the mid 1970s, the majority of title matches were 2 out of 3 falls.
