Abacus academy

From Freepedia

Abacus Academy existed in Fountain Valley, California for the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 school years. It was a charter school where students went for four hours of instruction and completed most of their work at home. It was founded by Shabnum Hussein and, besides her, had only one other qualified teacher, Robert Miles. A teaching assistant was also hired by Hussein to help out. Hussein taught the lower grades, whilst Miles taught sixth through seventh grade. Eighth grade and up were done online, and most of the high schoolers took the California High School Exit Exam at age 16 and moved on to community colleges.

In 2001, the school was closed due Hussein's health condition.
