Acanthosaura species, also known as mountain horned dragons (MHDs) are arboreal lizards that are found in Southeast Asia. They are medium-sized, ranging from about 7 1/2 inches up to 15 inches.
MHDs are insectivores and also will eat earthworms. Females lay their first clutch about 4 months after mating. They may lay up to 4 clutches total. The later clutches are separated by 1-2 months.
MHDs are popular as pets, the most common of which in the US is acanthosaura capra.
