Afghan Wars
From Freepedia
A series of three wars between Britain and Afghanistan in the 19th century and early 20th century was formerly called the Afghan Wars but is now referred to as the Anglo-Afghan wars perhaps to distinguish them from the civil strife in the 1980s.
For more information on the Anglo-Afghan Wars, and the major conflicts in Afghanistan since then, see the following:
- First Anglo-Afghan War (from 1839 to 1842)
- Second Anglo-Afghan War (from 1878 to 1881)
- Third Anglo-Afghan War (1919)
- Soviet-Afghan War (from 1979 to 1989)
- U.S. invasion of Afghanistan (2001)
