Agroecology is the science of applying ecological concepts and principles to the design, development, and management of sustainable agricultural systems.

Agroecology looks at both the socio-economic impacts and the environmental impacts of agricultural systems, and takes a critical view of modern industrial agricultural tecniques. It sees the industrial model as unsustainable.
