Ahmad Deedat was born in 1918 in India. He migrated to South Africa to follow his father at the age of 9; his mother died shortly after he left India.

His interest in Islam was started when he read the book IZHARUL - HAQ (the Truth revealed).

He is a world-renowned Muslim scholar on comparative religion and has published many books on the subject. His well-known works include The Choice, Between Islam and Christianity (Volume I and II), Is the Bible God's Word?, Resurrection or Resuscitation, and many more.

He has had many famous debates with Christian leaders, including Jimmy Swaggart, on his book, Is the Bible God's Word?

He was also the co-founder of Islamic Propagation Centre based in Durban, South Africa.

In 1986, Deedat was awarded the prestigious King Faisal International Award for his tireless efforts in promoting Islam.

He died on August 8, 2005, in his home in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, after suffering for many years from a stroke.
