Ai Haibara

Ai Haibara (灰原哀 Haibara Ai) is a character in the manga and anime Case Closed (Detective Conan).

Ai's real name is Shiho Miyano (宮野志保 Miyano Shiho), and Ai possessed the codename of Sherry while she was in the Black Organization. Ai is the scientist who created the Apoptoxin 4869. Attempting to escape from the Black Organization afther they had murdered her sister, she took her own poison, which resulted in shrinking her. She now lives in Hiroshi Agasa's house and attend the Teitan Elementary school, along with Conan Edogawa, Amy Yoshida (Ayumi Yoshida in Japan, Amy Yeager in the English anime), George Kojima (Genta Kojima in Japan) and Mitch Tsuburaya (Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya in Japan).

Her name comes from two different source (given by Hiroshi Agasa):

• V.I. Warshawski (for 'Ai')(Note: Agasa proposed the homophonus kanji 愛(love) for the name but she delibrately chose 哀(sorrow); possibly to reflect her mental situation.)
• Cordelia Gray (for 'Hai' in Haibara, which means gray)

She is still working on the antidote for the APTX 4869.

The English-language Case Closed trading card game website mentions her as Anita Hailey with her real name being Sherry. FUNimation has not chosen a name for her yet.
