Aldrin is a organochlorine insecticide which is oxidized in the insect to form dieldrin, a neurotoxin. Due to health concerns regarding dieldrin, it is no longer used; in addition, aldrin is itself a carcinogen and mutagen. It has chemical formula C12H8Cl6 and CAS number 309-00-2.
