Prince Alexandre Bagrationi (1770-1844) was a Georgian prince (Batonishvili) and leader of anti-Russian National-Liberation movement in 1801-1832.
He was a son of Erekle II, King of Kartl-Kakheti and was involved in a political and military life of the kingdom already in his teens. After the death of his father, he opposed his half-brother, King Giorgi XII, who reigned in 1798-1800. Alexandre organized a rebellion against the Tsarist occupation immediately after the abolition of the Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti in 1801 and tried to restore Bagrationi dynasty with the help of Persia and France. During Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812, Alexandre organized a popular uprising in the region of Kakheti, but was defeated and emigrated in Persia. He supported Persians again in their unsuccessful war with Russia in 1826-1828.
