Alexia Ashford

Alexia Ashford is a video game character from the Resident Evil series and the main antagonist of Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

Story

The first mention of the name Alexia (in chronological order) was in the remake of Resident Evil, where her name appeared on a document in the game titled Observation Note. The note (written by William Birkin) is the first mention of the G-Virus that Birkin was working on.

The first actual appearance of the Alexia Ashford character was in Resident Evil Code: Veronica. She supposedly appears at first in a private residence near a palace, however it is found out that this is not Alexia Ashford, it is in actuality her brother Alfred who has been driven mad by her abscence. At first, Alexia appears to be just a fake character and someone who is being played by Alfred, however, much later in the game the player finds out Alexia Ashford is real.

It is found out she does exist and that she has been locked up in a glass casing where she has been frozen since she was 12. Alexia became a top researcher at Umbrella at the age of 10 due to the fact it was revealed she was a genius. She was originally born as a twin to her brother Alfred. During this time, Alexia discovered the T-Veronica Virus by combining DNA of a Queen Ant with the original T-Virus. This also explains why she is obsessed with ants; after extracting this virus, she tested it on her father Alexander Ashford, a man that both she and Alfred despised. However, the experiment went horribly wrong; Ashford transformed into a dangerous monster who went completely out of control and Alexia and Alfred had no choice but to shackle him and tie him down in a basement prison cell. At this point, Alexia made the discovery that the virus can only unleash its full potential if the virus is allowed to merge fully with the carrier's cells instead of destroying them.

Since she had no other subjects she could test and rely on, Alexia decides to freeze herself in a glass container for 15 years. During, this period her brother Alfred goes insane from living in his mansion all by himself and without Alexia there to help him. He eventually dies just as Alexia wakes up from her 15 year slumber. After her return from her frozen prison, Alexia is completely mad and seeks revenge. Albert Wesker has been trying to find her for years because he wants the DNA Sample in her body and since she is the only one who has a trace of it, he must capture her. Alexia eventually is defeated by Chris Redfield who blows her up with a linear launcher, a new weapon that kills B.O.W.s.
