Alfaz del Pi

L'Alfàs del Pi or Alfaz del Pi or L'Alfaç (as it is also known in Valenciano) is a town located in the comarca of La Marina Baixa, in the province of Alicante, Spain, lying at the foot of Sierra Helada. L'Alfàs del Pi has an area of 19.3 km2 and, according to the 2003 census, a total population of 15,848 inhabitants, most of them foreigners, many of whom are mostly of Scandanavian, Dutch or English origin. The economy of L'Alfàs del Pi is mainly based on tourism. The most important monument in the city is the Catholic church of Cristo del Buen Acierto, built in 1784. It is also home to a nationally renownd film festival which runs each year.
