Alfred Belpaire

Alfred Jules Belpaire (26 September 1820 — 27 January 1893) was a Belgian locomotive engineer credited with introducing the Belpaire firebox.Belpaire was born in Ostend, Belgium, and talent saw him go to university in Paris.
In 1860 he introduced a new square-topped firebox.
He died in Schaarbeek, Belgium aged 72.
