Alfred Mond, 1st Baron Melchett

Alfred Moritz Mond, 1st Baron Melchett (1868 - 1930) was a British industrialist and politician.

Mond was the son of Ludwig Mond. In 1902, he founded the Mond nickel works at Clydach, Wales, the largest in the world at the time. He was Liberal Member of Parliament for Swansea in the period 1910-23 and for Carmarthen in the period 1924-8 before entering the House of Lords as Baron Melchett. He was Minister of Health in 1922. From his interests came ICI (1926), of which he was the first chairman.
