Formula One
McNish competed for a short time in Formula One, after helping with the development of Toyota F1's car during 2001. He participated in 17 grands prix from both the team's and his own F1 debut on March 3, 2002. He scored no championship points (due to 2002 being Toyota's first season in F1) and along with teammate Mika Salo was dropped at the end of the year. In 2003 he was a test driver for Renault F1, also doing a little TV work for ITV, but the next year he returned to his successful sports car racing career.
