Allerød

Allerød is a municipality (Danish, kommune) on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 67 km², and has a total population of 23,458 (2005). Its mayor is Eva Nejstgaard, a member of the Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Allerød.
Neighboring municipalities are Birkerød and Hørsholm to the east, Karlebo and Hillerød to the north, Slangerup to the west, and Stenløse and Farum to the south.
Allerød municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
The warm period after the last ice age (Wisconsin glaciation) is named Allerød.
