Alpha Capricorni

Alpha Capricorni (α Cap / α Capricorni). It also has the traditional names Algiedi or Al Giedi or Algedi or Giedi; however, Giedi is sometimes also associated with β Capricorni.
It is an optical double star in the constellation Capricornus.
The western star, α1 Capricorni, is about 1500 light years from the Earth. It has a 2005.5 right ascension of 20h17m57s and a declination of −12°29'31". Its apparent magnitude is 4.3, and it is of spectral type G3 Ib (yellow supergiant). It is also sometimes called Prima Giedi.
α2 Capricorni, also known as Secunda Giedi, has a right ascension of 20h18m22s and a declination of −12°31'43", an apparent magnitude of 3.58, and is 120 light years away. It is a yellow giant of spectral class G8.
They are separable with the naked eye (with an angular distance of 6.4') similar to Mizar and Alcor.
The name Algedi is derived from the Arabic word الجديّ al-jadiyy, meaning "the billy goat" or "kid," and also refers to the entire constellation of Capricornus.
