Anápolis

From Freepedia

Anápolis, the second largest city in the State of Goiás in Brazil, is a city of approximately 320,000 people. The Força Aérea Brasileira (Brazilian Air Force) is operating one of their most important bases here, protecting the nearby capital as well as being an important element of the SIVAM project, the Amazonas survey system.

There are many shopping centers located in the city including Anashopping, a two storey mall connected to a Chevrolet dealership, and VIP, a large supermarket.

DAIA (Distrito Agro-Industrial de Anapolis) is the industrial sector of Anapolis. It includes many large companies such as Teuto, a pharmaceuticals manufacturing plant; the biggest generica-producing capacities of Brazil are located here. The federal government decided to build the major logistical centre of Brazil round the DAIA, building a turntable for goods throughout Brazil on road, rail and air (Pòlo logìstico de Anápolis).

Anápolis has a Municipal Airport, which will soon be upgraded to a statal Airport, as well as a University.

Anápolis is located 45 minutes away from Goiânia, the state Capital (1,000,000) and two and a half hours away from Brasília (2.5 million), the capital of the Country. There is a 4-lane highway connecting the city to both of those cities.
