Anna Liszt

Anna Liszt was composer Franz Liszt's mother. She was born Marie Anna Lager in Krems, Austria, on May 9 1788. On January 11 1811 she married Adam Liszt in Unterfrauenhaid. He was an amateur pianist and manorial clerk at the court of Count Esterházy. Their son, Franz Liszt, was a composer, teacher of piano, and a concert pianist, born in Raiding, Hungary on 22 October 1811. Adam died when Franz was just fifteen years old.

Later in life she spent her time caring for Liszt's children Cosima, Blandine, and later Daniel while he travelled Europe with his then lover, authoress Daniel Stern.

She died on February 6 1866 in Paris.
