Aquarela do Brasil (Aquarelle of Brazil, aka Brazil) is one of the most noted Brazilian patriotic songs, composed one pluvious night in 1939 by Ary Barroso. This song marked the creation of a new genre, Samba-exaltação (Samba-exaltation), which was adopted by the nationalist dictactorship of Getúlio Vargas. The song has been successful through the years and has been covered by many different artists in various styles, from a capella to orchestral arrangements.

It also became the soundtrack for two films, the Disney animation Saludos Amigos and Terry Gilliam's Brazil.
