Army of the West

The Army of the West was created on Jan 29 1862 and was composed mostly of Missouri State Gaurds. The total number of men was 20,000. It was commanded by Major-General Earl van Dorn. The army preformed fairly well and won the battle of Wilson's Creek where Union General Lyon was killed. Other battles included Pea Ridge and Honey Springs.
