Asa Danforth
From Freepedia
Asa Danforth (29 June 1768 – 1821 or later) was an American Revolutionary War veteran and leading citizen of Onondaga County, as well as a highway engineer. In 1797, he was contracted by the government of Upper Canada of Colonel John Graves Simcoe to clear a road from the outskirts of York (now Toronto). He completed the work in a year and the result was named The Dundas Road after a prominent British colonial official. However, Danforth left disgruntled with the payment and never returned to Canada.
