Attrition

Attrition may have multiple meanings:
- From a military standpoint, attrition means a gradual, natural reduction in membership or personnel, as through retirement, resignation, or death. See war of attrition and battle of attrition.
- Attrition damage can be sped up by one party against another with a strategy of constant harassment, abuse, or attack or though the use of a blockade.
- In Catholic theology, Imperfect contrition is also known as attrition
- In Human Resource Management terms, attrition is a decruitment option. It's the action of not filling openings created by voluntary resignation or normal retirements.
- In dentistry, attrition is the wearing away of dental hard tissues (tooth enamel and dentine) caused by one tooth biting or rubbing against another. It is exacerbated by dental erosion.
