Aversives

Aversives are negative stimuli used to induce behavior changes. According to behaviorism, aversives can mold and change behaviors, particularly in animals. In humans, aversives are historically ineffective in changing behaviors; instead effective behavior change is most often caused by positive reinforcement (i.e. rewarding) of desired behaviors.
