Babine

The Athabascan Indians on middle Babine River and Babine lake, British Columbia, Canada.

One branch is called Nataotin or Lake Babine Indian Band.

Second group Hwotsotenne (Wet'suwet'en, Bulkley River Band) lived on Bulkley River, and occupying the following villages: Hagwilget (today Hagwilget Village), Hwotat (Wi'tat; on the east side of Babine Lake), Keyerhwotket, Lachalsap (Lakalzap), Tsechah, Tselkazkwo.

The Babine are speak a language closely related to Carrier.

Population: 2,200 (1982 SIL).
