Backward pawn
From Freepedia
In chess, a backward pawn is a pawn that is behind the pawns of the same color on the adjacent files and that cannot easily be advanced. Thus it can be hard to defend them. Also, the opponent can place a piece in front of the pawn without any risk of another pawn driving it away. In this diagram, the pawn on the g4 square is backward. (Also see isolated pawn and doubled pawns.)
