Badd Company

From Freepedia

Badd Company was a professional wrestling tag team in the American Wrestling Association in the late 1980s.

History

Badd Company was formed when Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond started teaming in 1988 in the American Wrestling Association. They wore identical ring gear and were accompanied by flamboyant manager Diamond Dallas Page, who always had some Diamond Dolls with him.

Their first feud was against The Midnight Rockers whom they defeated for the AWA World Tag Team Championship. They held the titles for a year and feuded heavily with Chavo and Mando Guerrero before finally losing their titles in 1989 to Brad Rheingans and Ken Patera.

Shortly after losing their titles, they split from Page and wrestled in singles competition until early 1990. Tanaka would go on to form a tag team called the "Orient Express" with Akio Sato in the WWF, managed by Mr. Fuji. Diamond would soon follow and when Sato decided to retire from wrestling in the US, Diamond donned a mask and wrestled as Kato with Tanaka throughout 1991 and early 1992. Sato briefly rejoined the team during the end of their run in the WWF and they wrestled as a 6-man combination. Diamond then wrestled as a singles competitor in the WWF under various names. Tanaka would resurface in WCW during the mid 90's. Neither achieving the same success they enjoyed together.

Their finisher is called the "Superkick-plex", a maneuver in which Tanaka sets up the victim in a half-nelson, Diamond hits the victim with the Chris Adams superkick and Tanaka finishes the maneuver with a German suplex for the pinfall.
