Bahçelievler, Istanbul


Bahçelievler is one of the middle class suburbs of Istanbul, Turkey on the European side of the city. It is connected to Istanbul by E-5 Highway and a semi-subway. It is the northern neighbour of Bakırköy county. Bakırköy and Bahçelievler are very close each other and they have same characteristics.

Some districts of Bahçelievler (e.g Bahçelievler part of Bahçelievler) are one of the most planned and clean places in the Istanbul, but some districts are full of low-class apartments and are untidy. As a result, Bahçelievler can be accepted as a unbalanced settlement. High class, middle class and working class people live together.

The name itself means 'houses with gardens'. This name is coming from historical position of Bahçelievler. Until 1980's, Bahçelievler was full of houses with gardens. Today, this definition is only valid for Bahçelievler district of Bahçelievler.

Bahçelievler is a residental district. There are some big shopping centers and many small cafes, but night life is not avaible.



Bahçelievler, Ankara


Bahçelievler is a neighborhood in Ankara, Turkey. It has a vibrant night life, where young people cruise in expensive cars on 7th Street, the main drag. The neighborhood was known in the 1970's as a battleground for the right and left wing political factions. All that has changed now.
