The Ballarat Australian Rules Football League was formed in 1893 and currently in 2005 have 11 senior Aussie Rules and netball clubs consisting of 33 Aussie Rules and 33 netball teams (Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, Darley, Daylesford, East Point, Lake Wendouree, Melton, Melton South, Redan, Sebastopol & Sunbury) and 9 junior clubs consisting of 63 teams from U/10 through to U/16.5 (Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, East Ballarat, Golden Point, Lake Wendouree, Mount Clear, North Ballarat, Redan & Sebastopol). Last year in the u/12’s we saw North Ballarat creating history winning it’s 6th u/12’s grand final defeating East Ballarat 2.9.21 to 0.2.2. In the u/13’s grand final we saw Lake Wendouree win back to back premierships defeating Golden point 10.3.63 to 5.8.38. U/15’s grand final ended up having North Ballarat play East Ballarat In the worst conditions you could see they played in snow. All season East Ballarat proved to be a strong team all season with a percentage of 1000 through the home and away season and they also went through undefeated through the home and away season. They ended up beating North Ballarat in the grand 7.5.47 to 1.7.13. The u/16’s grand final was a bit of a landslide with North Ballarat the undefeated team all year beating Ballarat 8.10.58 to 3.5.23 they were the junior results. The U/18’s grand final result saw Lake Wendouree play Sunbury these teams were 1st 2nd and it proved to be a good contest. The scores at half time were even but Lakers were able to prevail 10.14.74 to 9.7.61 Lakers winning their 2nd straight u/18’s premiership. The seniors grand final ended up being one sided with Sunbury dominating from the first of the game right to the end with Sunbury winning by 43 points with Mark Power winning best on ground and Sunbury winning their 6th grand final in 10 years. And the BFL is currently kicking on strong with more junior players now than they ever did and the membership is going bigger than ever. The Chief Executive Officer of the BFL is Tim Beacham. He has is been CEO for the last 2 years. He played VFL for the North Ballarat Roosters so his a lot of experience. He also runs the runs the U/15’s U/16’s Ballarat development Aussie Rules football squads. The leading goal kicker for 2004 was Tyrone Charge who kicked 103 goals for the year. Allan Henderson medal for best senior player of the year went to Justin Lewis of Sunbury who poled 33 votes with Mark Power coming a close second with 30 votes.

The Ballarat Australian Rules Football League is looking stronger than ever.
