Ban Ki-moon (b. June 13 1944) is the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea. He was appointed to the position in January 2004.
Ban received his bachelor's degree in international relations from Seoul National University in 1970, and joined the diplomatic corps in the same year. His first oversees posting was as a vice consul to the mission in New Delhi, in 1972. He received a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University in 1985.
