Baskin-Robbins
From Freepedia
Baskin-Robbins is a chain of ice cream parlors founded by Burton Baskin and Irving Robbins in 1945 in Glendale, California. It claims to be "the world's largest ice cream franchise", with more than 4,500 locations, 2,300 of which are located in the United States. Baskin-Robbins was purchased in 1973 by the British company J. Lyons and Co., which later became part of Allied Domecq. Baskin-Robbins, Togo's, and Dunkin Donuts comprise Allied Domecq Quick Service Restaurants, part of Allied Domecq plc.
Baskin-Robbins is also known for its "31 flavors" slogan. Originally, Baskin-Robbins had 31 flavors, one for every day of the month. Today, it is common to see stores with anywhere from 12 to over 40 flavors.
One of their most famous blunders came when they made a ketchup flavored ice cream in honor of TV's Archie Bunker, who loved ketchup on everything. They ended up making just a few barrels of the very unpopular mixture, and most of it was later discarded.
