Bering Strait School District

Bering Strait School District [1] is located in Northwestern Alaska and serves approximately 1700 students in grades K-12 in 15 isolated villages. All school in the 15 isolated villages are k-12 and many are multi graded.
Bering Strait School District is now one of 15 districts working in partnership with the Alaska Staff Development Network (ASDN), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to enable all students to meet high standards.
The Alaska Quality Schools Coalition member districts have agreed to use the Quality Schools Model as a vehicle for change.
The Alaska QSM is closely tied to standards-based reform.
The School District serves a wide range of native cultures.
