Blondi

Blondi was the name of Adolf Hitler's German Shepherd. She was given to him as a gift by Martin Bormann in 1941. Blondi stayed with Hitler even after his move to the Führerbunker during the fall of Berlin.
By all accounts, Hitler was quite fond of Blondi, keeping her at his side and allowing her to sleep in his bedroom in the bunker. Hitler killed Blondi shortly before killing himself, using a cyanide tablet, perhaps believing that the Russians would torture her out of spite for him or perhaps to test the cyanide.
Pop culture
The dog is referenced in episode 8F17 of The Simpsons (March 12, 1992) when Homer Simpson tells his son about how "Doggie Hell" is populated by, "Hitler's dog, and that Nixon dog, whasshisname, uh, Chester" along with one of the Lassies.
