Bonding
From Freepedia
In telecommunication, the term bonding has the following meanings:
- In electrical engineering, the process of connecting together metal parts so that they make low resistance electrical contact for direct current and lower frequency alternating currents.
- The process of establishing the required degree of electrical continuity between two or more conductive surfaces that are to be joined.

In chemistry, bonding is the process by which two or more atoms exchange valence electrons and join together to form a molecule. See chemical bonding.
In aviation use bonding has two different meanings:
- the electrical connection of an aircraft, re-fuelling pump and ground to prevent static electrical arcing and thus fire. This use is related to the telecommunication use of the term above.
- the use of special glues to attach two pieces of metal together as an alternative to bolts or rivets.
In broadband use 'bonding; has the following meaning:
- The combining of two or more broadband connections to produce one logical connection. Generally only used when high bandwidth options (SDSL, ADSL2, ADSL+) have been exausted or are unavailable.

bonding is also the shortname of a student organisation in Germany. See bonding-studenteninitiative e.V.
