Bonne projection

From Freepedia

A Bonne projection is a pseudoconical equal-area map projection, sometimes called a dépôt de la guerre or a Sylvanus projection.

Parallels (i.e. lines of latitude) are concentric circular arcs. On the central meridian and one particular standard latitude shapes are not distorted, but eleswhere they are, and the overall shape of the world is complicated. The standard latitude can be altered to produce different projections.

In a sense a Bonne projection is intermediate between the sinusoidal projection and the Werner projection. An alternative intermediate projection is a Bottomley projection.
