Busch Stadium III (a.k.a. New Busch Stadium) is the new home for the Major League Baseball St. Louis Cardinals. It replaces the old Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals played for nearly forty years. It is scheduled to open with a April 10, 2006 game in which the Cardinals will host the Milwaukee Brewers.
Construction plans
Busch Stadium III is being constructed by HOK Sport and Hunt Construction with an estimated cost of $387 million. The stadium is being built in phases:
- First, the south side of the new stadium will be built.
- The second phase is the wrecking ball demolition of the old stadium, which begins the week of November 7, after the end of the Cardinals season. That phase is expected to last 90 days. [1]
- Phase three is to build the north side of the new stadium.
