Cadmium zinc telluride
From Freepedia
Cadmium zinc telluride, or CZT, is (as the name indicates) a compound of cadmium, zinc and tellurium. A wide band gap semiconductor, it is used in radiation detectors.
Radiation detectors using CZT can operate at room temperature, unlike many other models which require liquid nitrogen cooling. CZT can be formed into different shapes for different radiation-detecting applications.
Cadmium zinc telluride is highly toxic to humans.
