Casper: A Spirited Beginning
From Freepedia
Casper: A Spirited Beginning is a direct-to-video spin-off to the 1995 film Casper. It was released by Universal Studios Home Video in 1997.
As the title implies, the film shows how Casper became a ghost. It seems the movie is supposed to be a prequel, but it's so blatantly unconsistant with the previous film one might be tempted to think the two films are not even set in the same world. These inconsistencies include:
- In the first film, it's stated Casper died some time either in the late 19th century or early 20th century, but this film features him becoming a ghost and is set in modern times
- The house Casper haunted in the first film was his father's house, but here he joins the Ghostly Trio, which are already haunting a house (not the same as the one from the first movie)
- According to this film, ghosts have to go through training before becoming ghosts, but in the previous film, two characters died and came back as ghosts instantly
- Casper appears lonely at the beginning of the first film, despite the fact he forges a friendship with a young boy in this movie (which, presumably, is a prequel)
