Ceilândia is one of the most important Satellite towns nearBrasília, Brazil. Ceilândia was created by the Brasília governor in 70's to keep people from invading the main town (Brasília). The root of the name Ceilândia is 'CEI' which means in Portuguese: Centro de Erradicação de Invasores (Invadors Erradicaton Center).

Currently the city has a population of 350 000 inhabitants (it is the biggest electoral college of the DF and the most populous city), has 4,500 commercial establishments (between informal deeds of division) and 1,600 industries. The economically active population is more than 160,000 people. Ceilândia occupies all to the 91 squares residential, intercalated for areas destined to the local commerce, temples and schools. It has still areas special, that they shelter other communitarian equipment.

Ceilândia is had as the second bigger city northeastern is of the Northeast Region (the first one is São Paulo). About 70% of the population it has origin northeastern. The presence of the northeast culture if makes to notice mainly in the amount of fairs(13 to all, distributed for all the sectors of the city). The fairs (feiras-livres) are also an alternative for the man power that did not find space in the economy of the DF. In the majority of them is commercialized fruits, foods, clothes and footwear. The Fair of the Producer (Feira do Produtor e Atacadista de Ceilândia) commercializes for other salesmen and almost supplies 50% of all the Federal District.

The Central Fair (Feira Permanente de Ceilândia), that functions of thursday the sunday, of 8h to 18h, is the greater of all. It occupies an area of seven a thousand square meters and in its 460 boxes are commercialized articles of bed, table and bath, tools, household-electric, alive and abated fruits, vegetables, birds. It is located next to the Caixa d'Água (Water box) - Symbol of Ceilândia.

But most peculiar, without a doubt, it is the Feira do Rolo, where if she finds of almost everything, new or used, entire or broken, with or without forma bill of sale.

Another influence of the culture northeastern is in the Casa do Cantador do Brasil. Projected for Oscar Niemeyer, it it hosts the National Federacy of the Associations of Singers, Improvisors and Cordelistas Poets. It is also destined to house the improvisors who visit the city. Every year the National Meeting of the Singers happens in that space.

In fact, Ceilândia is The Real Brazil.
