Two successive lifeboats based at Kingsdown in Kent were named after Charles Hargrave, the sponsor of both.

The first served from 1882 to 1890, when it was replaced by its namesake, at a cost of £650. The second boat was forty feet in length, and was stationed at Kingsdown until 1926.
