Cherry bomb

A cherry bomb is a dangerous firework and considered an illegal explosive device in the United States and most other countries. Cherry bombs are commonly round, approximately one inch (2.5 cm) in diameter, and colored red with a green fuse sticking out. They contain a core made of explosive flash powder, a layer of sawdust, and a coating of sodium silicate and are powerful enough to take a hand off. Possession, manufacture, or sale of cherry bombs is a crime punishable by time in jail.

Indeed, cherry bombs are so powerful that the New Hampshire Fire Marshall's office state that "Cherry bombs ... are federally banned explosive devices and never should be referred to as fireworks."

In the Simpsons epsiode The Crepes of Wrath, Bart Simpson flushed a cherry bomb down a toilet at Springfield Elementary School. The resulting explosion sent sewage gushing out of all the toilets in the school, sending Agnes Skinner flying off a toilet seat in the girls' lavatory.
