The Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact car that was introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. It is available as both a coupe and sedan, and is based upon the GM Delta platform along with the Saturn Ion. A badge-engineered Cobalt is sold as the Pontiac Pursuit in Canada, and as the Pontiac G4 in Mexico. The front suspension is independent with MacPherson struts, while a semi-independent torsion bar is used in the rear. The wheelbase is 103.3 in (262.4 cm), longer than its competitors, and the width is 68.4 in (173.8 cm). Weight is high at 2808-2989 lb (1273-1355 kg), and fuel economy is 23 mpg (10 L/100 km). Both the Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit are built at the General Motors plant in Lordstown, Ohio.

Pontiac Pursuit (Canada)
The Pursuit is available (for model year 2005) in base, SE, and GT trim levels, with the base and SE receiving the 2.2 liter engine, delivering 145 horsepower at 5400 RPM and 155 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 RPM, with a choice of 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission, while the GT receives the 2.4 liter engine, delivering 171 horsepower at 6000 RPM and 163 lb.-ft. of torque at 5000 RPM, and the automatic transmission only. Brakes are disk front and drum rear. Length is 180.3 inches (4580 mm) on a 103.3 inch (2623 mm) wheelbase, with width 67.9 inches (1725 mm), height 58 inches (1450 mm), and weight 3216 lb (1459 kg). Base models are equipped with 15 inch wheels and CD player. The SE adds 16 inch wheels, as well as ABS, air conditioning, and cruise control (all also available as options on the base model) as well as a leather steering wheel and shift knob.
