Chinandega department

Chinandega is a department in Nicaragua, located on the border with Honduras. The capital is the city of Chinandega. The 2004 census reported a total population of 452,190 in the department of Chinandega.
Largely agricultural, it produces rum from sugar cane; other products are bananas, peanuts, shrimps and salt.
