Chris Farlowe
From Freepedia
Chris Farlowe is an English singer and one-time amateur boxer.
He was born John Deighton on October 13, 1940, in London or Essex (they overlap).
His musical career began with a skiffle group, and he joined the Thunderbirds in the mid 1960s, recording five singles for the Columbia label, without too much success. He then moved to the Immediate label and recorded another eleven singles, five of them cover versions of Rolling Stones records. His most successful was “Out of Time” in 1966. His next four singles were also well received, “Handbags and Gladrags” (written by Mike d'Abo) being later covered by Rod Stewart (and most recently by Stereophonics).
As a British R & B star of the early 1960s, he released one single under the pseudonym, "Little Joe Cook", which helped perpetrate the myth that he was black.
In the 1970s, he sang in the hard rock supergroup Atomic Rooster.
He had no further commercial success, but continues to perform.
