Ciliwung River

Ciliwung River (Indonesian: Sungai Ciliwung) is a river in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In circa 1720, there were many sugar factories built along Ciliwung River. Out of some 130 factories, there were 50 sugar factories located in the bank of the river. The workers always threw the rubbish of sugar cane into Ciliwung River. They were not aware that it would make the river flow became clogged up.
