Cineworld
From Freepedia
Cineworld Cinemas is a multiplex cinema chain in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. It is owned by Cine-UK Ltd, a subsidary of The Blackstone Group. The first Cineworld opened in July 1996. The chain now operates 76 cinemas in the UK and one in the Republic of Ireland (in Dublin), as a result of its takeover of the UK and Ireland operations of the French cinema company, UGC. It is the second largest cinema operator in the UK, and the owner of the single largest multiplex by screens in Ireland (though the Vue cinema in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre is larger by customer base).
In July 2005 it began integrating the two chains, taking the opportunity to introduce a new company logotype (with a shortened name, "Cineworld Cinemas"). UGC sites are in the process of being rebranded Cineworld. Cineworld will retain the UGC Unlimited card scheme and the UGC in-house magazine, also called Unlimited. A new integrated website will also be developed - at present, one must continue to book tickets for ex-UGC cinemas at the old UGC websites.

Unusual facts about Cineworld
At least one of the Cineworld cinemas plays host to a church on a sunday morning. Whilst cinemagoers continue to watch movies in the other screens one London church hires a couple of screens for its lively worship. Is this setting a new trend?
